My 14th Stitch Fix

A few weeks back I got a mailer in the mail from Stitch Fix offering me a FREE fix. Meaning no $20 styling fee. It had been several months since my last fix and I wasn’t really sure I wanted to do another.

As I’ve been cleaning out my closet, I’ve noticed sometimes I impulsively choose to keep Stitch Fix items, wear them once or twice and then leave them hanging for months on end until they make it to the donate pile so as I looked at this fix I wanted to be intentional with anything that I would keep. Meaning I wanted to keep items that make sense long term in my closet and not just for an occasional wear.

Truth be told it’s been a long time since I’ve been this disappointed with a fix.

Here’s what I got:

Q&A Marsala Split Neck Blouse $64

I thought this top was adorable and could absolutely see myself wearing it for a night out or even Thanksgiving. That said- $64!! Too much to justify keeping it.

Decision: RETURN

41Hawthorn Zoe Ankle Zip Skinny Pant $88

I actually really like the 41Hawthorn brand and maybe even would have been interested in these pants if my Stitch Fix profile didn’t say “No pants, please.”

Decision: RETURN

Le Lis Covington One Pocket Top $58

This was a cute, fun, flannel that’s very much in style but I couldn’t find any reason it would be different than a flannel I could buy at Old Navy or Target for much less.

Decision: RETURN

Evolution by Cyrus Leesa Hooded Cardigan $88

I actually LOVE this sweater. It is totally my style, so much so that I already have one very similar. If I didn’t, I’d be tempted to keep it, though again, the price point is much higher than I’d want to spend.

Decision: RETURN

Olive and Oak Marsella Star Print Pullover Sweater $58

It’s just not me.

Decision: RETURN

All in all, I was disappointed. Not because they didn’t send me nice items but because none of the items were things I either preferred or requested and also, I felt like the price points were high. I felt like the stylist quickly did a once over on my profile and threw things together without really taking the time to look at my profile, what I’ve bought in the past and also what I’ve pinned on pinterest.

I may give Evereve’s Trendsend program another whirl but I think this might be it for me and Stitch Fix for awhile.

My 13th Stitch Fix

My 13th Stitch Fix came over the weekend and it was a good one! I was excited to see some things right away in the box that I knew I would love. Now comes the hard part- making decisions!!

Here’s what I got:

41Hawthorn Carla Crochet Detail Blouse $58

I have a few other tops by this brand and love them. I initially was skeptical about the red as I don’t wear a lot of red but once I tried it on, I was convinced it had a place in my closet.

Decision: Keep

Market and Spruce Jannice Knit Dress $58

I really, really liked this. It fits well, it’s flowy. It’d be perfect for summer…but I’m waffling. I don’t love the back- halter straps aren’t my thing.

Decision: Undecided

Market and Spruce Girona Eyelet Detail Top $64

This was one that as soon as I laid eyes on it I knew it had to be mine- it’s SO me. I am fairly certain you will see me in this all summer long.

Decision: Keep

Hailey23 Kodi Jersey Maxi Dress $78

I do love this but I also just bought a maxi dress right before Easter and don’t feel the need to add another floral maxi to my closet right now.

Decision: Return

Renee C Arlette Skirt $54

Another item I was skeptical about but I did like it. That said I wouldn’t get enough wear out of it.

Decision: Return

All in all, this fix was a win! When I have to struggle making decisions of what to keep and what to send back, it’s a good one! What do you think of my items this month? Love ’em? Hate ’em? Am I making the right choices?

My 12th Stitch Fix

My 12th Stitch Fix came several weeks ago now and I was so excited. It’s that time of year that I’m just a little bit tired of my wardrobe and was so excited to add a few new things to get me through to spring and also get me excited for spring.

I’ll be honest, I was disappointed. Not because I didn’t like the items, I did and I think that in some ways they were “me” but they just weren’t what I was hoping for this go around.

For the second time since I started, I returned everything. Again, not because the items weren’t necessarily me but because they weren’t what I was wanting and needing right now. Also, I’m finding that the sizing is really inconsistent. Specifically, Market and Spruce and Pixley.

Here’s what I got:

Pixley Marabella Textured Knit 2fer Dress $68

NO PHOTO because for lack of better description, I looked like a stuffed sausage.

Market and Spruce Garrity Tie Back Knit Tank Top $44

fix12a

I actually do love the stripes and also really loved the tie in the back. But I also have a lot of tank tops- black, white, stripes and realistically would want to wear this in warm weather so as to show off the back and it’s going to be awhile.

Just Black Adorra Skinny Jeans $88

fix12b

Great fit and I really like them. That said I’ve got several pairs of skinny jeans so I’m set in that department.

Pixley Meryl Split Neck Blouse $54

fix12d

Love this sweet springy sleeveless top and it fits well too [also same size as dress that doesn’t fit above] but $50 plus for a sleeveless top that I won’t wear a ton simply because it’s so bright and unique is too much.

Market and Spruce Adelina Lace Detail Knit Top $54

fix12c

Again, I liked this one but this one was too short. It felt more like a cropped top and either that means it’s too small or just not my style.

So I’ve returned all of it this go and at first I was bummed about the style fee [that I’m paying with credits I have] but after reading The Life changing Magic of Tidying Up last year I’ve really decided that if I don’t LOVE something as far as my clothes go, I shouldn’t keep it because I just won’t wear it enough to make it worth it.

I scheduled another fix for later in April and am going to work on pinning things on Pinterest that I really like.

My 11th Stitch Fix

My 11th Stitch Fix came over this past weekend. I was extra excited about getting this one because after my last fix I requested a friend of mine to be my StitchFix stylist.

Seriously, if you know someone who is a Stitch Fix stylist, request them to style you. There’s something special about them actually KNOWING what you will and won’t like and your body type.

Here’s what I got:

Emily Rose Macy Open Cardigan $58

sf2017a

I loved this. I don’t really have anything similar to it right now and it fits perfectly. Would be a perfect transition from winter to spring. That said, I can’t spend $58 on a cardigan and I worry about snagging the fabric.

Decision: RETURN

Pixley Martina Slub Knit Open Cardigan $48

sf2017b

If I didn’t have one of these almost identical {the one in my closet has a hood, otherwise exactly. the. same.} I would so be keeping it. So comfy too.

Decision: RETURN

Renee C Jackobie Crew Neck Blouse $44

sf2017d

As soon as I saw this in the box, I knew I would love it and love it I do. It will be perfect this spring and summer for going out or to a meeting or even throwing a cardigan over it.

Decision: KEEP {But first I need to exchange it for a bigger size because it was a little snug}

Colette Chavez Pop Color Cuff Knit Top $48

sf2017e

Another WIN! I recently bought a similar top from Matilda Jane though. {See what I mean about Kim being RIGHT ON with my style?!}

Decision: RETURN

Laila Jayde Bowie Solid Dolman Sleeve Top $58

sf2017c

I don’t have any dolman sleeve tops even though I’ve tried them several times. I really like it, it fit well, the color is something I don’t already have but I couldn’t do $58 for it.

Decision: RETURN

So you might be looking at this thinking what was so great when you’re only keeping ONE item. When I get a Stitch Fix, I am usually only looking to get 1-2 items. They are typically at a higher price point than I would normally spend and it’s more of a treat or a way to complement my wardrobe.

My TENTH Stitch Fix

My TENTH Stitch Fix came last month. TEN! I can’t believe it!

If you remember I wasn’t at all impressed with my last fix. As a matter of fact, it’s the one and only time I’ve returned the entire fix. I had kind of forgotten I had another one scheduled until it was at my door step this time so I’m not even sure I had filled in any criteria but it was better style-wise.

Here’s what I got:

septstitch7

Here’s what I got:

Papermoon Jerrard Heathered Open Front Cardigan $47

septstitch6

This was ok. Kind of snug and while I do like the open front it felt a little too open.

Decision: RETURN

Renee C Katarina Knit Swing Dress $64

septstitch

Well, you know how I love me some stripes and this dress feels like wearing pajamas. The price point was a little high for a knit dress but with my styling fee in there it lowers the price a stitch. Plus, a vest and boots make this look SO cute!

Decision: KEEP

Hailee C Dayanara Button Down Top $58

septstitch2 septstitch4

It’s not me. Also, a little snug. Maybe I ate a big breakfast that day?

Decision: RETURN

Kut from the Kloth Simmons Boot Cut Jean $88

septstitch3

These were ok. Probably a stitch looser than I usually wear my jeans but they fit ok. That said I just splurged on some bootcut denim.

Decision: RETURN

Loveappella Evie Draw String Funnel Neck Sweatshirt $64

septstitch5

I actually love this style and have another sweatshirt from Athlete similar to it. I did feel like this one was a little snug though. I’ve hemmed and hawed about trying out the new Stitch Fix exchanges and exchanging it for another size. I’m not sure what the return policy is though and I want to make sure I love it in the next size.

Decision: RETURN

What did you think of my Fix? It wasn’t the worst but it wasn’t the best either. I know a few people who have become Stitch Fix stylists and might request one of them the next time I get a Fix but right now I’m not sure if I’ll continue or not.

My 9th Stitch Fix

My ninth Stitch Fix arrived on Saturday morning and it felt like Christmas. I hadn’t received a Fix since this past fall. I tried Trend Send this past winter from EverEve and then I had a Stitch Fix scheduled around my birthday but with an updated check card, my order didn’t go through so I had to update my account and reschedule.

My 8th Fix wasn’t my favorite one but I did keep a black top that I really enjoyed all winter long and still love. This Fix was even worse than that one. Actually, I returned everything. I was pretty disappointed in what I was sent this time around and didn’t schedule another Fix {even though Stitch Fix has emailed me twice since I checked out}. I felt that I had given some comments of what I was looking for and also based on previous Fix’s that there should have been some good info of what my style is like in addition to my Pinterest board and style profile.

stitch

Here’s what I got this time {don’t mind the unmade bed in the background- I was washing bedding Saturday!}

Pixley Ellie Printed 3/4 Sleeve Blouse $48

stitch6

This was ok. It fit fine but it’s not really something I would get a lot of wear out of for an almost $50 price point. I think if I had gotten it in March I probably would have kept it because of spring and Easter and such but at this point I’m looking towards summer and wouldn’t see a lot of wear of this.

Decision: RETURN

Azalia Skinny Jean $148

stitch7

I did ask for denim. These were more like JEGGINGS than denim in my opinion. They fit my legs great but accenuated my muffin top which is not a look I prefer.

Decision: RETURN

Collective Concents Galen Laser Cut Dress $88

stitch2

I actually did like this dress aside from the straps but I have so many navy and black dresses like it.

Decision: RETURN

Collective Concepts Helga Crochet Detail Top $48

stitch3

Someone forgot to tell my stylist that I’m 34 and not 21.

Decision: RETURN

Market & Spruce Didi Crochet Detail Knit Tank $38

stitch4

I can’t stand razorback straps, which was part of my dislike of the other tank as well.

stitch5

Decision: RETURN

All in all I was disappointed. Maybe I’m getting too picky? I’m not sure if I’ll have another one sent or if I’ll give Trend Send another try. I’ve gotten some good fixes in the past so if I do schedule will probably shoot for end of summer. What do you think? What would you do?

My 8th Stitch Fix

My 8th Stitch Fix arrived Monday afternoon and I was excited. What is it about the changing seasons that makes it feel like we have nothing to wear? I know I’ve no shortage of clothing options but I was ready for something new.

Before I give a play by play of this month’s fix, I’ll say I was initially disappointed. I started a Pinterest board this time with some style ideas and updated my notes to my stylist just before it shipped. While my note to the stylist originally asked for holiday apparel and denim, I did update that prior to shipment to a link to my Pinterest board and some specifications on everyday clothes, specifically tunics to go with leggings. I’m thinking my stylist didn’t see the update {even though Stitch Fix asked me to update my note before ship} and had already chosen my items before that.

Here’s what I got:

fix8a

Pixley Talisa Dress $68

fix8d

Cute dress but a little too snug and really no need for another solid navy dress in my closet.

Decision: RETURN

Gilli Taneli Dress $68

fix8e

This was a super cute t-shirt material dress and if I didn’t already have one in black from Old Navy for {less than $20} I might have wanted to keep this one. The price point for a t-shirt material dress and the fact I have one similar made the decision easy.

Decision: RETURN

41Hawthorn Potina Draped Cardigan $68

fix8c

Oh now this one is speaking my language. I heart cardigans and I heart stripes.

Decision: UNDECIDED

Skies are Blue Burgoyne Lace Hem Blouse $58fix8b

It’s hard to tell from the photos but this is super cute and simple black silk top with a lace hem. It’d be perfect with a long necklace and jeans for a dinner out.

Decision: KEEP

Just Black Jimmy Skinny Jean $88

I like these but don’t love them.

My 7th Stitch Fix

sf11

For over a year now, I’ve been getting Stitch Fix. It really does feel like Christmas every time one of the boxes arrives at my doorstep. I am always excited to see what goodies and have high hopes for what’s inside.

Once again, I was NOT disappointed by the choices and this was the first time that I really struggled with what to keep and what to return. So much so that I was a few days late checking out and sending my box back.

Here’s what I got this time:

Gillian Sleeveless Dress: $68

sf sf2

I almost didn’t try this on because I already have a black sleeveless dress but honestly, so glad I did. I love the way it fit and felt and love that it’s just a little bit more dressy than my other black sleeveless dress.

Decision: KEEP

Rose De Paris Johnston Cross Back Knit Tee: $44

sf7 sf8

I LOVE stripes and initially loved this one, especially with the back. But the fabric wasn’t quite me and I felt like it would stretch out too much when I would wear it.

Decision: RETURN

Pixley Brilla Mixed Material Knit Top $44

sf9 sf10

Truly loved this one and am totally kicking myself for sending it back. My Stitch Fix complaint? That you can’t change your mind once you check out.

Decision: RETURN

Brixon Ivy James Laser Cut Dress $78

sf3 sf4 sf5

Love this one but have a similar dress in the same color. It also was a little snug in the chest area.

Decision: RETURN

Papermoon Garland Geo Print Maxi Skirt $58

sf6

Again, I loved this one. Really loved this one. Was so close to ripping off the tags and wearing it one day buuuut $58 for a cotton maxi skirt is, even with Stitch Fix credits, more than I’d like to spend.

Decision: RETURN

All in all, this fix was a good one. I’m still thinking about that skirt and that top I sent back regrettably. I’ve scheduled my next fix for November so I can update my holiday wardrobe a little bit.

My 6th Stitch Fix

My 6th Stitch Fix came this past week. I’ve been trying to schedule one every two-three months because they are typically a little bit more than I would usually spend on clothes but it’s been really fun to see what comes each time and I also know that many of the items I’ve received are things I wouldn’t normally have looked at or even tried on if I saw them in the store.

stitch

This is what I got:

1. Pixley Jakobe Maxi Dress $78

I knew I would love this one when I saw it in the box and even though I probably don’t need another dress in my closet, I’m keeping it. I already wore it out to dinner last night.

stitch3

Decision: KEEP

2. Mystree Monica Dress $68

stitch4

In theory I liked this dress but I didn’t like it on myself. Too tight and too much stripes going on.

Decision: RETURN

3. Papermoon Bastille Tulip Sleeve Blouse $38

stitch5

This is the perfect top to dress up or dress down for a professional event or a dinner out with friends and the price point? Perfect.

Decision: KEEP

4. Chambrai Norene Linen Cuffed Shorts $64

stitch2

When I saw these in the box I hated them and contemplated not even trying them on but then once I tried them on I didn’t want to take them off. Super comfortable and actually really cute. That said the $64 price tag is pretty high for a pair of shorts.

Decision: UNDECIDED

5. Fun2Fun Sheridan Striped V-Neck Tab Sleeve Blouse $48

My Fifth Stitch Fix

My 5th Stitch Fix came today and I’ve been awaiting this one. With early spring like weather in Minnesota and my birthday approaching I knew that I wanted to update my spring wardrobe FAST. It was scheduled to arrive March 20 but when it hadn’t shipped by Thursday, March 19 I was a little nervous. Glad it arrived today yet a little surprised the online site says to return by Monday already. I think more and more people are trying Stitch Fix, which is great and I hope you all do, but with that I think that they might be at times running into schedule snafus like mine.

stitch7

All this to say, even though it arrived a day later than planned, I was pretty happy with what arrived today, here’s a rundown:

Pixley Meryl Tulip Print Sleeveless Blouse $54

stitch6

Definitely a little more than I would spend on a sleeveless blouse but I do LOVE it. I don’t really have anything else navy and white like this either.

Decision: Undecided but leaning towards Keep.

Market and Spruce Corinna Striped Heathered Dolman Top $48

stitch5

This is super simple and definitely my style. I love stripes and am happy to have another navy options versus all the black and grey I tend to stockpile. That said $48 for a simple tee is a little more than I would spend. It’s the same brand as my favorite cargo jacket I received this past fall though so that gives me some encouragement that it’s a quality, well made brand.

Decision: Undecided.

Look By M Nathan Tread Pattern Infinity Scarf $28

stitch4

Super annoyed that a scarf was in my box as I have noted on my profile NO accessories. It’s an adorable scarf and totally my color but I don’t spend $28 on scarves.

Decision: Return.

41Hawthorn Renesme Graphic Print Faux Wrap Dress $78

stitch3

So far each fix that has included a top by this brand I have kept because it’s SO me. I wasn’t exactly in LOVE with the print until I put it on. It fits well, can easily be dressed up or down and is a nice addition, color wise, to my spring closet.

stitch2

Decision: Keep.

Olive and Oak Gertrude Dress $68

stitch

While I love the soft pastel color, it reminds me of an Easter egg. Add that to the uni-boob thing that appears to happen to my chest and it’s not doing it for me.

Decision: Return.

All in all this was a good fix. The way I decide that is I liked more items than I disliked. While the 41Hawthorn Dress is a for sure I’m undecided on the other two, so if you have an opinion either way. TELL ME!
