Talk To Me, Wednesday.

I haven’t done a Talk To Me post in a few weeks but that’s not because there’s nothing to talk about.

Here’s a few things I think are worth talking about this week:

How Three Kidnapped Women Escaped in Cleveland

I can’t get over this one. Ten years. Three women. The story is both one of hope and also such sorrow.

And as a mom, my heart just breaks knowing that Amanda Berry’s mom passed away before she was found. I just can’t imagine the anguish of a missing child and oscillate between which is worse; having your child found and knowing the terror they have suffered just five miles away all these years or thinking they are dead?

Charles Ramsey is my new hero. And proof that an ordinary person can do something extraordinary. I love how “real” he is in his interviews and in the media. He may seem an unlikely hero but he deserves every ounce of recognition sent his way.

Love this post by Kristen Howerton of Rage Against the Minivan about the importance of NOT using shame when it comes to talking to kids/youth about sex.

While I think that abstinence is a great goal for kids (and one I will encourage for my own), I also believe that it is vitally important that we not use shame in an attempt to scare our children into complying with our own sexual ethics. {excerpt}

The 3 minute Matt Chandler clip at the end is a must watch!

A story I did about a local woman being a surrogate for friends of hers hit the front page of the paper. It was truly one of the most inspiring stories I’ve ever had the privilege of writing. You can read it here.

This week’s perspective on education post came from a recent University of MN grad and he writes about bullying.

What are you seeing/reading/watching around the web that’s worth talking about this week?
